Honoring a CD 12 Veteran in Council

This Tuesday, I was so proud to honor Dalia Sanchez, a decorated Marine Corps veteran and director of the Department of Veteran Affairs’ Chatsworth Vet Center. Dalia has worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Vet Center Program since July 2007.
Dalia served in the United States Marine Corps from 1992 to 1996 and joined the Army National Guard Reserves shortly after her discharge from the Marine Corps. Since 1996, Dalia has continued her service in the Army National Guard Reserves and continues to do so to date. She is currently assigned to the 224th Special Troops Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade in Long Beach, where she serves as the Battalions S3 Operations Officer.
Dalia has had numerous deployments including Okinawa, Japan in 1996, Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan in 2011.
Dalia received her Bachelors of Science in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University and graduated with a Masters in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles. She is currently attending California State University, Northridge where she is working towards a Masters of Health Administration.
