A Fond Farewell to Joann Clarke of the Emergency Management Department

For 33 years, Joann Clarke has served Los Angeles City Departments, including Department of Building and Safety, LADOT, Los Angeles Sanitation, City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services, and City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department (EMD).
Joann implemented the City's first ever Faith Community Roundtable on emergency management for all faiths of Los Angeles.
As the Faith Liaison, she worked to foster relationships and developed partnerships between the City and Houses of Worship/Faith Groups on emergency management issues.
Her mission was to encourage, educate, and empower Houses of Worship/Faith Groups and their communities to be resilient in times of crisis and to ensure the City’s emergency preparedness programs are inclusive of the whole community.
She was passionate and dedicated to serving the City and the faith based communities she worked with on a daily basis. Joann met impossible deadlines and always asked the question "what could be done?” instead of expressing what wouldn’t work.
Joann continually demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to both her Department and the safety of the residents of Los Angeles.
Congratulations to Joann and her family and best wishes on all of her future endeavors.
