On Thursday, over 40 representatives from the ten Neighborhood Councils throughout Council District 12 took part in what has become an anticipated tradition in the North West San Fernando Valley – the CD12 Conversations with Councils.
Designed to provide the CD12 Neighborhood Council membership the opportunity to expand their repertoire of information regarding relevant social and political issues and provide access to the respective City agencies and departments designated to address these challenges, this regular meeting has become a cornerstone in providing understanding of complex topics for our Neighborhood Council membership.
Thursday's event was hosted by Ride On, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing care and teaching adaptive horseback riding to children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities and providing physical, occupational and speech therapy specializing in using the movement of the horse to improve specific medical conditions.
The Neighborhood Council members were treated to an engaging dialogue that touched upon keystone issues in the City involving the Los Angeles Police Department. Thank you to Deputy Chief John Sherman of Operations Valley Bureau, Captain Bryan Lium of Devonshire Division, and Captain Maureen Ryan of Topanga Division for an informative discussion of vital issues which effect our communities. A special thanks to Bryan McQueeney, Sara Jones, and the incredible Ride On staff for their time and commitment. It was undeniably a powerful event that will not soon be forgotten.
