CD 12 Welcomes Captain Beverly Lewis to LAPDs Devonshire Division

As Chair of the Public Safety Committee and an LAPD Reserve Officer, it is my pleasure to welcome Captain Beverly A. Lewis as the new Area Patrol Captain at LAPD’s Devonshire Division.
Born in South America and raised in Brooklyn New York, she is a graduate of the University of Laverne where she obtained her Bachelors of Art degree in Public Administration. She began her law enforcement career as a police officer in 1991. She promoted to Detective in October 1997, to Sergeant in October 2000, and to Lieutenant in October 2006.
Previously, she worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, Narcotics, Detectives, Homicide and Internal Affairs. She has attended several leadership schools which include California Post Management School and the Sherman Block Leadership Institute. She is also a graduate of the 254th Session of the FBI National Academy.
Captain Lewis is a member of the Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives (ABLE), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Los Angeles Women's Police Officers and Associates (LAWPOA), California Homicide Investigators Association (CHIA), California Narcotics Officers Association (CNOA) and the National Black Police Officers Association (NBPOA). She is a recipient of the Police Star and the Meritorious Unit Citation for her efforts while assigned to Focus Attack Linking Community Organizations and Neighborhoods (FALCON).
