Yesterday, I joined Mayor Eric Garcetti and Jim Featherstone, General Manager of the Emergency Management Department, to announce the opening of the City of Los Angeles' Local Assistance Center at Mason Park in Chatsworth. The Local Assistance Center will provide a centralized location where residents and businesses can access programs and services from a variety of agencies to help facilitate their return home and to their normal routines.
The City's Local Assistance Center will offer a range of services including information on potential refunds related to disruption of City services, updates from the Los Angeles County Assessor based on change of residence during the relocation, disaster relief available to impacted businesses, and access to mental health services.

Now that the leak has been sealed, affected residents can begin to take the first steps in a long process of recovery. With more than 15,000 people looking to move home again and resume their daily lives, it is vital that we provide a support system for families to have a centralized hub to access resources.
