Council District 12 Volunteers During the North Valley Family YMCA Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

This week, my office partnered with the North Valley YMCA to deliver over 3,500 turkey dinners to families in need. The idea for the Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway started nine years ago with the goal of giving away 50 dinners to families in the San Fernando Valley. Since that successful year, the set goal has grown exponentially. The Thanksgiving baskets included the complete makings of a Thanksgiving meal with a turkey, vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, chicken broth, stuffing, and dessert.
Thank you to the over 500 volunteers and sponsors for supporting our partnership with the North Valley Family YMCA. These meals will feed families in need throughout the Valley this Thanksgiving.
It is essential that we remember to not only give back during this holiday season, but also throughout the entire year. Giving thanks isn’t about a special time of month; seasons change but gratitude, showing appreciation, and giving back to the community is a feeling that should last year round.
