This Tuesday, I was proud to join the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112 (UFLAC), and the International Association of Fire Fighters to kick-off the 62nd Annual “Fill the Boot” Days to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Next week, Tuesday, April 26through Thursday, April 28 are proclaimed as “Fill the Boot Days” throughout the City of Los Angeles.
Since 1954, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) began the “Fill the Boot” partnership with the MDA which includes Firefighters throughout America collecting funding to support efforts to combat neuromuscular diseases. Together Firefighters across the nation have raised over $585 million to benefit MDA. Over the past 10 years, the Los Angeles Fire Department and the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112 has raised more than $1,438,543 for MDA through the annual Fill the Boot campaign.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases.
I want to personally thank the men and women of the LAFD for donating their time and effort to raise fund for this important cause. Please support this important cause by donating at the 28 designated location throughout the City next week.
