Englander Secures Sewer and Trash Credits, Time Warner Cable Credits for Affected Residents

This Wednesday, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved my motion directing LA Sanitation to provide Sewer Service Charge (SSC) vacancy adjustments and Solid Waste Resource Refuse Fee refund credits for the period customers were displaced from their homes due to the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak. Additionally, Time Warner Cable Company has agreed to provide credits for residents who did not suspend their cable service during their relocation.
Nearly 6,000 families were relocated due to the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak. These are residents whose homes are vacant and are not utilizing these services. I appreciate the Bureau of Sanitation and Time Warner Cable’s acknowledgment of this and their efforts to reduce these fees for our displaced residents.
Customers are only eligible for refund credits if they no longer place any of their collection containers out for service. Requests should be submitted to LA Sanitation rather than the Office of Finance and may be submitted within one year of the date of the charge rather than the six months specified in the Code. Call LA Sanitation at 800 773-2489 or 311 to receive assistance 24-hours/day 7-days/week.
Contact Time Warner Cable at 888-TWCABLE to request a bill adjustment or to reactivate your cable service.
