Holleigh Bernson Park Reopens After Oily Residue from Aliso Canyon Found

Last Saturday, I was happy to join the Department of Recreation and Parks in reopening Holleigh Bernson Park in Porter Ranch for public use after a temporary closure due to oily residue found in the park as a result of the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak.
On March 6, out of an abundance of caution, Holleigh Bernson Park was temporarily closed due to oily residue found on playground equipment and throughout the park. Per my request, Los Angeles City staff members inspected all local parks in the area affected by the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak. The oily residue samples were sent to specialists and submitted for testing. After further examination from LA City environmental experts, Holleigh Bernson Park has been deemed safe.
