LADOT Installment Payment Plan Expansion

Last week, the Los Angeles Department of Transporation (LADOT) implemented a new Installment Payment Plan (IPP) that allows qualified motorists to pay for their parking citations over a 3-month period.
PP’s are available for motorists whose financial situation is confirmed as a very low-income household, using guidelines established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
While the installment plan does not cancel parking fines, IPP's break down the payment the first installment as 40% of the total amount due, followed by two installments of 30% of the total.
In the past, installment plans for parking citations issued were provided to motorists as part of the hearing process. The new IPP no longer requires a motorist to go through a hearing. Eligible motorists may request for the plan after receiving a citation.
Motorists who apply for the new IPP will be asked to provide detailed income information that will allow the City to verify eligibility. A request for an IPP can be made by visiting www.lacity-parking.org. Under “Find Services” menu on the bottom portion, click on “Enroll in an Installment Payment Plan”. The documents will be reviewed, and if qualified, a confirmation of enrollment will be mailed to the motorist.
