LAPD Devonshire Welcomes New Neighborhood Prosecutor

It is my honor to welcome Deputy City Attorney Alin Sahagian, the new neighborhood prosecutor for LAPD's Devonshire Division to our community.
Alin was formerly a vertical gang prosecutor in the South Los Angeles area and has prosecuted cases involving the Central City Recovery Zone, in addition to prosecuting gang, gun, and graffiti cases within the Safe Neighborhoods and Gang Division of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.
Alin obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine Law School, where she also obtained a certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Strauss Institute of Dispute Resolutions.
Operating under the "broken windows" theory, neighborhood prosecutors aim to identify, prioritize, and address quality of life and criminal problems before they grow into more serious offenses that can lead to urban decay in our communities. City prosecutors understand that the ability to respond to neighborhood complaints and address criminal problems proactively is critical to improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods
Four years ago, the Neighborhood Prosecutor Program was cut back because of budget restraints. In this year’s City Budget, I fought to restore the neighborhood prosecutor program to 21 prosecutors, one for each LAPD division.
