The 2017-2018 City of Los Angeles Budget Hearings
Posted by Councilmember Englander on May 05, 2017 at 5:31 PM
This week, my colleagues on the Budget and Finance Committee and I continued to conduct hearings with the various City departments on the Mayor's proposed $9.2 billion budget.
This is the time when the committee weighs the various priorities of the City to make sure that we are best meeting the needs of the City's residents and businesses within the constraints of the available revenues.
My personal priority has always been to enhance the safety, livability and quality of life in our communities, while providing for key challenges like the homelessness crisis and updating our infrastructure to bolster our City's resilience to environmental vulnerabilities and natural disasters.
Having expressed our priorities, the committee is in recess until next Friday when those priorities as documented by the City Legislative Analyst will be voted on and then moved to the full City Council for a special session.
