The 2nd Annual Making Movies that Matter Youth Short Film Festival concluded this week with over 1000 young filmmakers showcasing their work at the Valley Performing Arts Center. These truly incredible films were written, performed, filmed, directed, and edited entirely by students from over 30 elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Council District 12 and the San Fernando Valley, alongside youth from the Greig Smith Devonshire PALS Youth Community Center, New Horizons, and the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission.
Awards were given in the categories of Animation, Public Service Announcement, Documentary, and Live Action for each grade level with overall grade level winners, a community spirit awards winner, the Menchie's "Mensch" award winner, and a grand prize winner.
Congratulations to all of our winners and participants and a special congratulations to Chatsworth Charter High School for winning the 2017 Making Movies that Matter Grand Prize for their musical, Trust & Believe. Check out the winning film below. All of our 2017 Making Movies that Matter submissions will be available on my YouTube Channel.
