The CD12 Team Says Goodbye to Chief of Staff John S. Lee

This week, I bid a bittersweet farewell to my Chief of Staff John Lee. In the years we've worked together, John has become more than a colleague, he's become family.
John is a pillar both within City Hall and within the community he serves. The things he has done for the Northwest San Fernando Valley over the course of his career are far more than a simple list of accomplishments. He has built a lasting legacy that includes securing $2 million in Federal funds to build the Greig Smith LAPD Devonshire Youth Center in Northridge, raising over $1 million for programs serving low-income and at-risk youth for the North Valley YMCA, securing funding to improve San Fernando Valley Senior Citizens Centers, and so much more.
He tackles every issue with tenacity and he does so with a smile and cheer that infects everyone around him and compels them to do better. John has been a mentor and a friend to an entire generation of public servants in Los Angeles. While he might be leaving the City family, he’s still a resident of the San Fernando Valley and he will never stop fighting for his community, his City, and the things he believes in.
John’s professionalism will be sorely missed after he departs, but it’s good to know that we can continue to count on his friendship for many years to come. We offer well wishes to John as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.
