This week was the start of our E12 Excellence in Public Service Leadership Development Program.
The students took the Metrolink to LA Union Station and were treated to a walking tour of Downtown Los Angeles visiting: El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument, the "birthplace" of our City and the site of the original Chinatown; the Bradbury Building, an architectural landmark; Grand Central Market, Pershing Square, and the Central Library.
The students learned about the history of our City, discussed gentrification, viewed the many murals of Downtown and browsed through the many books and free resources the Los Angeles Public Library has to offer. For many, it was not only their first time to many of these places, but also on public transportation.
