THE LATEST FROM NEIGHBORHOODS FIRST

This week, I met with the City Administrative Office's Homeless Coordinator, Meg Barclay, and our LAPD Valley Deputy Chief John Sherman to continue the discussion about the ongoing issues in our community and their efforts to combat the homelessness crisis. As my Neighborhoods FIRST Team diligently works to bring vital pieces together, we uncover the needs, opportunities, and challenges facing these agencies as they work to assist all of our residents and keep our neighborhoods safe.
I also attended the LAPD Devonshire Division Basic Car neighborhood meeting and various Neighborhood Council meetings to get community members more involved and continue the discussion about my Neighborhoods FIRST Initiative and what we can do as a community to help solve this issue.
Further, my office is arranging for the LAPD HOPE Team and the Department of Sanitation's Rapid Response Team to increase their patrols of Council District 12. The Department of Transportation's Parking Enforcement Officers will be joining the LAPD and Sanitation on their routes so they can immediately cite any vehicles which are not in compliance with City ordinances.
The increased patrols and close coordination between departments are critical to addressing Los Angeles' homelessness crisis.
